Mock Interview Pro vs interviewing.io: senior engineers for coding rounds or AI reps for any role

Mock Interview Pro team

We make Mock Interview Pro, so we compete with interviewing.io. Our free test did not get as far as practicing an answer in interviewing.io, so this comparison also relies on its public pages, pricing, policies and user reviews, and says where we could not check something. How we test

Short answer

Choose interviewing.io for software engineering coding and system design rounds judged by a senior engineer; choose Mock Interview Pro for spoken practice in any other role. interviewing.io's human mock interviews start at $179 a session, with a full refund if you are unhappy, and its AI Interviewer for coding and system design is free. Mock Interview Pro costs $39 once for 30 days and 3 voice mock interviews built from your job posting, with a 14-day refund, but it has no coding environment and no human in the loop. Prices as of September 18, 2026.

Choose interviewing.io if

  • You are a software engineer with a FAANG or top AI lab loop coming up and want a Senior, Staff or Principal engineer to rate you against that bar.
  • You need to practice live coding or system design, which Mock Interview Pro cannot do; the free AI Interviewer runs coding in CoderPad and system design in Excalidraw.
  • You want an interviewer from a specific company such as Google, Meta or Amazon, and can pay more than the $179 starting price for that.
  • Your rounds are coding and your budget is zero, since the AI Interviewer is free with a login.

Choose Mock Interview Pro if

  • Your role is outside software engineering (product, sales, marketing, operations, finance), where interviewing.io offers little.
  • You want several spoken mock interviews for one job posting for less than the price of one human session.
  • You are an engineer who wants cheap, repeatable reps on behavioral and experience questions between paid expert sessions.
  • You want practice shaped by the company's interview rounds, which the free interview plan lists before you pay.

Should a software engineer pay for interviewing.io or practice with AI?

A software engineer facing coding and system design rounds should use interviewing.io, and can start free: its AI Interviewer runs coding interviews in CoderPad and system design interviews in Excalidraw at no cost, and its paid sessions put you in front of a Senior, Staff or Principal engineer from a company like Google, Meta or Amazon. Mock Interview Pro has no coding environment at all, so for the technical rounds themselves it is the wrong tool.

The difference between the two is calibration against volume. interviewing.io requires its interviewers to have 4+ years of experience and to have run 20+ interviews for their company, so the person rating you has sat on the other side of the loop you are facing. On Blind, one engineer at Google compared it directly with free peer practice and preferred interviewing.io's feedback to Pramp's (Blind).

Where Mock Interview Pro fits for engineers is the rest of the loop. Behavioral rounds, the project deep dive told as a story, "why this company": those are spoken answers, and Mock Interview Pro builds a voice mock interview from the job posting and company, then scores each answer with a fix and a rewrite. Mock Interview Pro says its interviewer asks follow-ups based on your answers, which our free test could not verify.

Which tool fits a product manager, sales or operations interview?

Mock Interview Pro fits those interviews, and interviewing.io mostly does not. When we signed up on September 18, 2026 as a senior product manager candidate, onboarding asked "How many years of experience do you have as a software engineer?", and the free AI Interviewer offered only coding and system design, so none of our three script questions had a free place to be practiced.

interviewing.io's human sessions reach a little further: its booking form lists behavioral, engineering management and technical program management next to algorithms and system design. There is still no product management, sales, marketing or finance track, and every human session is paid. Our interviewing.io review covers what we could and could not see inside the account.

Mock Interview Pro works for any role with a job posting. Its free interview plan asks for your role, company and the posting, lists the company's interview rounds with sources, and builds a practice plan; the public interview question pages take typed answers with AI feedback, free and without signup. Spoken mock interviews need a pass.

How does a senior engineer's rundown compare with Mock Interview Pro's AI feedback?

A human interviewer from a top company gives you a calibrated judgment; AI feedback gives you speed and volume, with less judgment. interviewing.io's human interviewers write a rundown after each session. Mock Interview Pro scores every answer, names one prioritized fix and rewrites your answer within seconds.

AI scores are less calibrated than a senior engineer's judgment: in our free test, Mock Interview Pro scored two deliberately vague answers 65 and 60 and labeled both "SOLID". The full test is on our methodology page. If what you need is to know where you stand against a FAANG bar, that is a human's job.

Human feedback is one person's view, though. A Blind commenter described interviewer quality as varying "between poor and average" (Blind), which is a reason to judge interviewing.io on more than one booking if you can afford it.

How many mock interviews does $179 buy on interviewing.io and on Mock Interview Pro?

$179 buys one human mock interview on interviewing.io, about three times the price of Mock Interview Pro's $59 1-Year Pass with unlimited voice mock interviews, while interviewing.io's AI practice for coding costs nothing. Here is the arithmetic at list prices on September 18, 2026.

  • One week, one interview. interviewing.io: one human mock interview from $179; the default booking we saw, an algorithms session with a Senior+ interviewer, showed $189. Mock Interview Pro: $39 once for the 1-Month Pass, 3 voice mock interviews within 30 days, with "Basic AI feedback" on each answer.
  • One month, several rounds. interviewing.io: three human sessions at the $179 starting price come to $537, and interviewers from a specific company cost more. Mock Interview Pro: $39, or $59 once for the 1-Year Pass with unlimited voice mock interviews, 3 video sessions and the full company research report.
  • Coding practice only. interviewing.io: $0 with the AI Interviewer, or $20 a month for Premium if you want to save and review sessions. Mock Interview Pro: not applicable.

Both offer refunds, on different terms. interviewing.io's FAQ says: "If you're unhappy with your interview(s), we'll issue a full refund." Mock Interview Pro gives a 14-day refund on passes, which never renew.

What does Mock Interview Pro lack that interviewing.io has, and the reverse?

Each tool leaves a gap the other covers. Mock Interview Pro has no human interviewer and no coding or system design environment, and its $39 pass gives "Basic AI feedback" with no video; video and the full company research report need the 1-Year or Lifetime Pass.

interviewing.io has no video, so there is no feedback on eye contact or presence, and nothing for product, sales, marketing, operations or finance interviews. Prices for company-specific interviewers and coaching packages are not published, and when we signed up, onboarding asked for a LinkedIn profile before the booking form would work. Its free AI practice stops at coding and system design.

If you are an engineer, those gaps barely overlap, which is why the two can sit side by side. If you are not, interviewing.io's gaps are the ones that matter.

Can you use Mock Interview Pro and interviewing.io together?

Yes, and the two cover different parts of an engineering loop: cheap repetitions of spoken answers on Mock Interview Pro, free coding practice on interviewing.io's AI Interviewer, and one or two paid human sessions saved for the rounds where calibration matters most. The human session is more useful once your stories are already fluent, so the paid time goes to judgment rather than to finding your words.

If your interview is in one to three days, do not wait for a human slot you have not booked. For a technical loop, run a free AI coding or system design interview on interviewing.io tonight. For behavioral rounds, or any role outside engineering, build the free interview plan to see which rounds the company runs, then say each answer out loud at least twice: the free interview question pages give typed feedback first, and the $39 pass adds three spoken mock interviews built from the posting.

Questions people ask

Is one interviewing.io session better than several AI mock interviews?

For a senior engineering loop, one session with an engineer who has run 20+ interviews at a top company can tell you, with more authority than AI feedback, whether your system design would pass that bar. For fluency, repetition matters more: three AI voice mock interviews on Mock Interview Pro cost $39, less than a quarter of one human session. Some engineers use both.

Is interviewing.io's AI Interviewer the same kind of tool as Mock Interview Pro?

Both are AI interviewers, built for different rounds. interviewing.io's free AI Interviewer runs coding problems in CoderPad and system design in Excalidraw, with feedback at the end. Mock Interview Pro runs spoken interviews built from your job posting for any role, with feedback on every answer, from $39 once. Neither replaces a senior engineer's judgment on a coding round.

Does Mock Interview Pro have a coding environment?

No. Mock Interview Pro runs spoken interviews and has no shared editor, so it cannot replace coding or system design practice. Engineers can use it for the questions around the technical rounds: tell me about yourself, conflict and ownership stories, and why this company. For the coding itself, interviewing.io's free AI Interviewer or a human session is the better fit.

How we tested

On September 18, 2026 we tried both products without paying, in an automated, headless browser, as a Senior Product Manager candidate. On interviewing.io we created a free account and reached the dashboard, stopped at an onboarding step that required a LinkedIn profile, and read the booking form, the AI Interviewer page, the FAQ and the gift page; we did not practice anything there, because the AI Interviewer offers only coding and system design. On Mock Interview Pro we went through the free interview plan to the paywall and submitted typed answers in the free practice box. We could not test a human session or either product's spoken practice. We make Mock Interview Pro.

On September 18, 2026 we used interviewing.io's free account in an automated, headless Chromium browser, as a Senior Product Manager candidate, without paying. We signed up with email; an activation email arrived in about a minute and led to a registration form. The dashboard then opened behind a Welcome onboarding modal asking for a company, years of experience as a software engineer and a LinkedIn profile. Get started stayed disabled with LinkedIn empty, so we did not finish onboarding. Behind the modal, the default booking (professional interviewer, algorithms and data structures, Senior+) showed a price of $189 and the promise of a full refund if you are unhappy. The free AI Interviewer offered only coding (CoderPad) and system design (Excalidraw) interviews, with a $20 a month Premium upsell to save sessions, and no behavioral or product manager option, so none of our script questions could be practiced and we did not start a session. The FAQ and gift page list $179 as the starting price. We could not test the booking flow past onboarding, peer-to-peer mocks, any paid human session, the quality of human feedback or the AI Interviewer's feedback.
