Huru is a reasonable subscription for practicing recorded video answers, but its free trial is too small to judge it by. Made by Beatview, Inc., it turned our pasted job description into 5 questions and had its first question on screen within about 110 seconds. It never asked a follow-up, and the trial stopped after 2 answers with feedback limited to one paraphrasing paragraph. Plans cost $24.99 a month or $99 a year as of September 18, 2026, and no payment is ever refunded.

What is Huru AI?
Huru (huru.ai, often called Huru AI) is an AI video interview practice app from Beatview, Inc. of Hyde Park, New York: you record answers on camera to generated questions, then read AI feedback on each one. Questions come from a pasted job description, a Chrome extension that imports listings from job boards, or a library Huru puts at 50,000 questions across 242 career roles. Huru says its feedback covers answer content, grammar, pace, pauses, filler words and facial expressions. It runs on the web, on iPhone and iPad, and as a Chrome extension, in English, Spanish, Portuguese, German and French. Third-party profiles date the company to 2021. We found no company research, coding practice or live interviewer.
How did Huru do in our test?
Huru was quick to start and easy to follow, then gave a free user very little to learn from. We ran our standard Senior Product Manager script on its free trial on September 18, 2026, as described on our methodology page.
Signing up and reaching a question
Signup took one email address and no password. Huru sent a magic link that arrived in under 20 seconds, and opening it logged us straight into a dashboard of 242 career roles in 29 categories, with no onboarding questions and a sidebar badge reading "Free Trial". No card, phone number or install was needed. From the homepage to the first question on screen took about 110 seconds and 7 steps, including pasting a job description; picking a stock interview instead would have taken 5.
How well the questions matched the job
The custom interview drew on our posting, not on generic filler. Huru generated 5 questions in about 7 seconds, starting with one about defining strategy for collaboration features in a B2B SaaS company, which is exactly what our job description was about. It did not ask which company or which interview stage we were preparing for. None of its question sets included our script's "Tell me about yourself" or feature prioritization questions, so we answered in its Conflict Resolution interview, which asked about de-escalating conflict and a conflict we had resolved. The question order changed each time we loaded it.
Each question came with a tips panel: "What They're Looking For", "Specific Points to Cover" and an "Answer Framework". It is a helpful planning aid, with one problem covered below: some tips quote statistics that have no source.
What happened after each answer
Huru did not react to our answers. It records one video answer per question, up to 2 minutes, and when we stopped recording, it showed "Processing your response... Finalizing recording..." and then moved to the next question without comment. There were no follow-up questions and no feedback inside the interview, so the experience resembles a recorded one-way screen more than a conversation.
The feedback a free user sees
The feedback sat on a separate Results page, and the free part of it was thin. Our first answer's feedback was ready within 2 minutes 34 seconds of stopping the recording; we did not check sooner, so it may have been faster. The Results view shows the answer video and four tabs: Accuracy, Grammar, Confidence and Tips. Only Accuracy was open. It said the answer "lacks specific strategies that you employed during the de-escalation process" and that "sharing a bit more detail about the situation would give context to your response". That is reasonable advice, but it paraphrased our answer rather than quoting it, and it gave no score. Our second recording caught only about 10 seconds, and Huru replied "Not enough data to assess your answer", which is the right response to a clip that short.
The other three tabs were blurred with "Premium Feature" overlays, such as "Upgrade to access detailed perfect answer & tips feedback". The locked text is loaded in the page behind the blur, which is how we saw it: the Grammar and Confidence tabs quote phrases from the answer, such as "It worked okay", and the Tips tab's "Perfect Answer" is a generic model answer rather than your own answer rewritten.
Where the free trial ended
The trial ended after 2 recorded answers, partway through a 5-question interview, and nothing on screen had mentioned that limit. Huru's Billing page then showed "Practice Interviews: Disabled" and "View Results: Disabled". Starting the custom interview again opened an "Upgrade to Access Custom Interviews" modal with both paid plans, and reopening the unfinished interview sent us back to the category page. Huru's refund policy page says the trial gives "access to the full functionality"; in practice, it was two answers.
What did our Huru test miss?
We could not complete a 5-question session, see the Grammar, Confidence and Tips tabs as a paying user would, or try the iOS app and the Chrome extension. Because our camera showed a test pattern, we cannot say anything about Huru's facial expression feedback.
What does Huru cost and how do refunds work?
Huru is a subscription with two paid plans that differ only in billing period, and it refunds nothing. Plans on its homepage and in the upgrade modal, as of September 18, 2026:
- Monthly (called "Starter" on the homepage): $24.99 a month.
- Yearly (called "Growth"): $99 a year, billed upfront, which Huru shows as "Just $8.25/month".
- Enterprise: contact sales, for universities and workforce organizations that need an admin dashboard, bulk licenses and analytics.
Both paid plans list unlimited practice interviews, advanced AI feedback, AI answer tips and practice from job board listings. Huru's refund policy is strict: "All payments for monthly or yearly subscriptions are non-refundable", and there are no refunds "prorated or otherwise". Canceling only stops renewal. The practical advice is to start monthly: $24.99 is the most you can lose if you cancel before it renews, while a yearly charge of $99 cannot be undone once it goes through.
Can you trust the numbers in Huru's tips and marketing?
Treat them with care, because several are precise and unsourced. Before we answered a conflict question, Huru's tips said summarizing the other person's concerns "can reduce tension by 30%", and that mediation techniques "can lead to a 40% increase in resolution rates in workplace conflicts". No study was named. Repeating figures like these in a real interview could invite a question you cannot answer, so use the tips for structure and drop the numbers.
The homepage and its organizations page make similar claims: "#1 AI-Powered Video Interview Prep", a 4.8 rating from "20,000+ others", "Boost your hireability by +70%" and "3 times more likely to receive a job offer". We found no methodology behind any of them.
Who makes Huru, and what else does the company sell?
Huru belongs to Beatview, Inc., which also markets an AI recruiting agent to recruiting agencies: it runs structured AI video interviews with candidates and scores them. Huru, in other words, helps candidates practice, and Beatview's other product helps recruiters screen. Neither Huru nor Beatview says whether the two share technology, and we found no source on it.
Huru's platform footprint has also shrunk. Its Android app no longer appears on Google Play, which returned a 404 on September 18, 2026, and AppBrain, a third-party tracker, reports it was unpublished in April 2025, although Huru's upgrade screen still listed Android. The iOS app was last updated in December 2024.
What do users say about Huru?
Huru has few public reviews, and they split between people who found the video feedback useful and people who could not get the app to work.
- App Store: 4.5 from 90 ratings on September 18, 2026. Reviewers praise questions tailored to the job and the speech and expression analysis. One reported: "When i click start interview, a blank grey overlay appears but nothing happens."
- Trustpilot: 3.9 from 7 reviews, with only one in the past 12 months. A reviewer named Estelle said watching her answers back showed her she repeated the same word, and a career coach recommends it for clients between sessions. In June 2025, a paying user wrote that after starting a job-based interview "it failed to ask me any questions at all" (Trustpilot). Five of the 5-star reviews were posted within two days in April 2024, right after the profile was claimed, so weigh that cluster lightly.
- Chrome Web Store: 3.6 from 16 ratings for the extension, which lists about 1,000 users (Chrome Web Store).
Is Huru worth it?
Huru is worth $24.99 for a month if your next hurdle is a recorded video screen and you want repetitions on camera with questions pulled from the listing. It is fast, the tips panel helps you plan an answer, and it runs in five languages. It is a weaker fit for live rounds: it never pushes back on an answer, it does not know the company or stage, and the free trial is too short to tell whether the paid feedback is worth it. Buy monthly, not yearly, until you know.
How should you use Huru if your one-way screen is this week?
Spend the free trial on your hardest questions, then decide on one paid month. If your interview is one to three days away, use the two free answers on the questions that worry you most, watch both recordings, and read the Accuracy note for what was missing. If that shows you need more than two takes, one month at $24.99 covers the rest of the week; cancel right away if you do not want it to renew.

Does Huru need a credit card for the free trial?
No. In our test on September 18, 2026, we signed up with an email magic link and reached the dashboard without entering card details or a phone number. The catch is the size of the trial: after 2 recorded answers, practice and results were disabled until we upgraded. Huru's refund policy page says the trial gives "access to the full functionality" but does not state its length or limit.
Can Huru really read your facial expressions and tone?
Huru says it analyzes voice, pace, pauses, filler words and facial expressions, and its organizations page mentions "body language and vocal tone". We could not check it. The Grammar and Confidence tabs, where that feedback appears, were locked on our free trial, and our camera showed a test pattern rather than a face. A 2024 Trustpilot reviewer credited the video feedback with catching a repeated word habit.
What happens if I cancel Huru?
Canceling stops the next renewal and nothing more. Huru's refund policy says all monthly and yearly subscription payments are non-refundable and that it will not give refunds "prorated or otherwise". On the $99 yearly plan, the full year is spent once charged, so the $24.99 monthly plan is the safer way to try it; both paid plans include the same features.

Yes, Huru is a working product from Beatview, Inc.: in our test on September 18, 2026 it generated 5 questions from our posting in about 7 seconds and recorded our answers. The caveats are a free trial that stopped after 2 answers, no refunds on any payment, homepage figures such as a 4.8 rating from 20,000+ users with no stated source, and an Android app no longer on Google Play.
How we tested
On September 18, 2026, from 21:44 to 21:57 local time, we used Huru's free trial in an automated desktop Chrome browser, signing in with an email magic link, as a Senior Product Manager candidate. A simulated microphone played a pre-recorded spoken answer and the camera showed a test pattern. We generated a custom interview from our job description, then recorded two answers in the Conflict Resolution behavioral interview, since Huru's question sets did not include our script's questions. Our second recording captured only about 10 seconds. We did not pay, and did not test the Grammar, Confidence and Tips tabs as a paying user sees them, the iOS app or the Chrome extension.
