Why do people look for Final Round AI alternatives?
Most people leave Final Round AI over money, the product's purpose, or the setup it requires. These are the patterns we found in its own policy pages, its reviews and our test on September 18, 2026.
- The price on the ad is not the price at checkout. Final Round AI's headline $25 a month is the yearly plan, billed as about $300 upfront; month to month costs $150, according to its subscription grid. Billing surprises are a recurring theme among its 277 Trustpilot reviews, which average 2.9.
- Refunds close fast, and two pages disagree on which charges qualify. The refund policy (last updated July 16, 2026) allows 72 hours on initial and renewal charges, "once per customer", and voids the refund after two or more sessions over 30 minutes. The FAQ on the plans page we saw in our test is narrower: a "72-hour money-back guarantee on first-time purchases of Quarterly and Yearly Plans", and "Monthly plans are non-refundable. Renewals and plan upgrades are also non-refundable". Canceling only stops future charges. A buyer in r/FinalRoundAI describes regret two weeks after a purchase made in a hurry before an interview. Treat tool recommendations in that thread and in r/InterviewsHell with care: one rival is promoted in near-identical comments across both.
- It is a copilot first and a practice tool second. Final Round AI listens to live interviews and shows suggested answers on screen. Amazon told recruiters that candidates can be disqualified for using AI tools in interviews (IT Pro), and Google's CEO said Google would add an in-person round "to make sure the fundamentals are there" (HR Director). Final Round AI's own FAQ says its screen capture protection is not a guarantee against detection. Some candidates use copilots anyway; others decide that what they need is practice. As one commenter put it in r/csMajors, "The part I actually struggle with is the conversation itself".
- Practice needs a desktop app. In our test, every web entry to a mock interview redirected to a download page for the macOS (14.4 or later) or Windows app, and the FAQ says starting a practice session needs a paid plan, even though the free column lists unlimited mock interviews. Yoodli is an AI communication coach from Yoodli, Inc. in Seattle where you practice interviews, presentations and hard conversations with an AI partner and get feedback mainly on how you speak. It is here for the Final Round AI user who wanted practice and never got a session: Yoodli runs in the browser, needs no card, and its free Starter plan gives 5 roleplays in total. Its interview mode builds a roleplay from a pasted job description, asks follow-up questions based on what you said, and then scores your answer with STAR and listening rubrics plus analytics on pace, filler words and conciseness. The trade-offs are real. Yoodli does not offer refunds on cancellation, the free plan does not reset, and Starter and Pro roleplay data can be used for AI training, according to its pricing page. The company now sells mainly to enterprises, so the homepage and onboarding lead with sales training. What we observed
In our test on September 18, 2026, the free plan's AI interviewer asked three follow-ups in about 2.5 minutes, each specific to our story, and said "I think I'm hearing the same story twice here." Feedback appeared 13 and about 24 seconds after we clicked Save & View Analysis. Our scores (22% and 30%) are low partly because our test audio looped one answer, so the candidate never answered a follow-up properly.

What we observed
Everything we reached on September 18, 2026 ran in the browser with no app download, the step that stopped our Final Round AI practice test. A typed answer on a free question page came back scored and rewritten in 7.2 seconds, though scores ran generous on vague answers. We did not buy a pass, so voice interviews went untested.

Interviews by AI is a lightweight web tool made by Jake Rosenthal and Chloe Pappas that turns a pasted job description into interview questions, lets you answer out loud or in writing, and returns written feedback with a sample answer for each question. It suits the Final Round AI leaver who mostly wants to know what they will be asked and how to answer it better, without another large charge. The first 3 questions need no account, card or install; after that, Google sign-in is the only option. The free Basic plan gives 3 questions a month, and Pro costs $9 a month with unlimited questions and resume upload, as of September 18, 2026. It is not a conversation: there is one question at a time, no follow-ups, no score and no delivery feedback. No refund policy is published, though canceling keeps access until the end of the paid period. Audio recordings are deleted right after transcription, according to the site. What we observed
In our test on September 18, 2026, three clicks and about 30 seconds took us from the homepage to a first question generated from our job description. Typed answers got a feedback paragraph and a sample response in about 4 seconds. The feedback caught missing metrics, but once flagged a hedging phrase ("I think") that was not in our answer, and it praised the clarity of a failed two word transcript. Question 4 required a Google sign-in.

Aced, formerly Exponent, is a tech and finance interview prep membership from Exponent Labs, LLC that combines courses, a question database, peer mock interviews (the network that was Pramp), AI mock interviews and paid human coaching. It is here because Final Round AI's pitch to engineers is help with coding and system design screens, and Aced covers those rounds as practice instead: peer mocks run over live video with a shared code editor. The free Basic plan includes 5 peer mocks a month with no card. Pro costs $79 a month, or $12 a month billed yearly; the Expert plan, which adds the AI mock interviews (a beta, audio only, one bank question per session, no coding), costs $99 a month or $20 billed yearly, as of September 18, 2026. Memberships renew automatically and refunds are limited to 5 days after purchase, so a Final Round AI user wary of renewals should set a reminder. Questions come from the bank, not from your posting. What we observed
On September 18, 2026 our automated test browser was blocked at email signup by a human check ("We couldn't verify your signup"); our own site's check failed in the same browser. A retry in a regular Chrome window got through, and the free Basic account opened "Practice with AI" with no paywall, while the public pricing page lists AI mock interviews and AI feedback only on the Expert plan. Both AI formats wanted spoken answers, so we practiced none and saw no feedback. We did not test a peer mock.

It is the direct replacement for a software engineer who used Final Round AI to get through coding screens: a real Senior, Staff or Principal engineer interviews you in a shared coding environment and tells you where you stand against that bar. Human sessions start at $179 each and cost more if you request an interviewer from a specific company; there is no subscription, and the FAQ promises a full refund if you are unhappy with an interview. The free AI Interviewer covers coding and system design with 200+ problems, and a $20 a month Premium saves sessions for review. Prices as of September 18, 2026. What we observed
In our test on September 18, 2026, the free AI Interviewer offered only coding and system design interviews, so our product manager questions could not be practiced. Onboarding asked for a LinkedIn profile before we could finish setup. The default booking, a Senior+ algorithms mock with a professional interviewer, showed a price of $189 and the full refund promise.

Many universities and workforce agencies provide it free; check your career center first. Bought directly, Interview BootCamp costs $39 for a 30-day subscription that renews until canceled, Interview Accelerator is $99 for 3 months and also renews, and Interview Pro is $299 once for lifetime access, as of September 18, 2026. Its refund terms are among the most generous on this list: a 100% refund within 30 days if you do not see results, no questions asked. It is listed for readers who liked what Final Round AI does and only want different terms. Its forever free plan includes 3 copilot sessions of 15 minutes, 5 AI mock interviews and 5 reports with no card. Standard costs $44.99 a month month to month, $39.99 a month quarterly or $16.99 a month billed yearly; Pro is $84.99, $59.99 or $34.99 a month on the same terms, as of September 18, 2026. Refunds are limited to an unused subscription or a verifiable technical issue, and yearly plans are a commitment for the full year. Its homepage says "100% It's undetectable". What we observed
On September 18, 2026 our automated test browser could not create a free account: the signup form returned "The CAPTCHA failed to load" twice. In a regular Chrome window the CAPTCHA passed and we reached the free dashboard and the mock setup, which required a resume upload, but the voice based mock did not start for us, so we practiced no answer. We did not test the copilot.

Questions people ask
How do I cancel Final Round AI before switching to another tool?
Final Round AI's FAQ says to open Settings, then Account & Billing, then Manage subscription, which opens a subscription portal in your browser; opening it does not cancel anything until you complete and confirm there. Canceling stops future charges but does not refund the current period. The refund policy allows a request within 72 hours of a charge, by email to hi@finalroundai.com, and not after two or more sessions over 30 minutes; the FAQ on its plans page says monthly plans and renewals are non-refundable, so ask support which rule applies to your charge.
Which of these alternatives run in a browser without installing an app?
Yoodli, Mock Interview Pro, Interviews by AI, Aced, interviewing.io and Big Interview all run in a web browser. Verve AI works on the web too, and also offers desktop, iPhone and Chrome extension versions. Final Round AI's practice mode, by contrast, sent us to download its macOS or Windows app in our test.
Is Verve AI cheaper than Final Round AI?
On list prices, yes. As of September 18, 2026, Verve AI Standard is $44.99 month to month or $16.99 a month billed yearly, against Final Round AI's $150 month to month or $25 a month billed yearly (about $300 upfront). Verve AI also has a free plan with 3 short copilot sessions. Both are subscriptions with narrow refund rules, so read each policy before buying a year.
Can I practice for free after leaving Final Round AI?
Yes, with limits. Yoodli gives 5 roleplays in total, Aced gives 5 peer mocks a month, Interviews by AI gives 3 questions a month, and interviewing.io's AI Interviewer is free for coding and system design. How we tested
On September 18, 2026 we ran the same Senior Product Manager script on each tool's free tier in an automated desktop browser, without paying, and recorded prices and refund terms from each vendor's own pages that day. Yoodli, Interviews by AI, interviewing.io and Mock Interview Pro let us in; Aced and Verve AI signups were blocked by human checks our automated browser did not pass; a retry in a regular Chrome window got into both, but their AI mock interviews wanted spoken answers and we practiced no answer in either. Big Interview offered only paid plans. For those three we report what we saw and their public pages. Final Round AI's practice mode required a desktop app we did not install. Reasons for switching come from Final Round AI's refund policy, FAQ, Trustpilot and the Reddit threads linked. We make Mock Interview Pro, one of the picks.
On September 18, 2026 we tested Final Round AI on the Free plan in desktop Chrome, with no payment details entered. We signed up with email and password (a 6 digit email code arrived in about 30 seconds); a daily discount modal opened on top of the signup form. After verification the site sent us to a desktop app download page. Every web entry to practice (the AI mock interview page, the dashboard Mock Interview card) also redirected to the download page, and the web dashboard labels itself a legacy page being retired. The web Interview Room for the live copilot loaded, with its mock interview panel saying to continue in the app. The plans page revealed an 8% daily offer with a 24 hour countdown and showed Monthly $138, Quarterly $76.67 a month, Yearly $23 a month and Premium MAX $38.33 a month with the offer applied (list prices $150, $83, $25, $42). We stopped after about 4 minutes and 8 steps without reaching a practice question. We could not test question quality, follow-ups, feedback, debriefs or speed, because practice runs only in the macOS or Windows app, which we did not install, and the homepage lists practice interviews under the paid plan. We did not test the live copilot in a real interview, by rule.
