What is the real difference between Mock Interview Pro and Interviews by AI?

Interviews by AI (interviewsby.ai), made by Jake Rosenthal and Chloe Pappas, is a question drill, and Mock Interview Pro is a mock interview. Both start from the same input, a job posting, which is why they get compared. What happens next is different.

Interviews by AI reads the job description you paste and writes a short list of questions. You answer each one out loud or by typing, and it returns a paragraph of feedback plus a sample response. There is no interviewer and no conversation. You work through the list at your own pace.

Mock Interview Pro sells voice and video mock interviews in which an AI interviewer runs a whole session. The site says sessions are built from your posting, company and interview round; we could not run a paid session, but its free interview plan does list the target company's rounds before you pay.

So choose by what you need tonight: individual questions drilled cheaply, or a whole interview rehearsed out loud.

What happened when we gave both tools the same answer?

Both tools caught that our answer was vague, and neither quoted the weak line back to us. On September 18, 2026 we typed the same deliberately weak answer into each tool, following our testing method, for nearly the same question about conflicting stakeholder priorities. The answer opened "Yeah, so there was a time when the sales team wanted us to build a custom feature" and ended with "I learned that communication is really important", with no numbers and no process.

Interviews by AI returned its feedback in about 4 seconds. It praised the answer's understanding of stakeholder management, then said "The example is somewhat generic and could benefit from clearer metrics or decision framework that shows your data-informed approach." It also advised avoiding hedging phrases like "I think"; our answer says "I didn't think it was a good idea" but never uses "I think" as a hedge. The sample response reused our scenario (sales asking for a custom feature) and wrapped it in a prioritization framework, still without concrete numbers.

Mock Interview Pro returned a score of 65, labeled "SOLID", with one fix: "Add specific details." Its critique said the answer "lacks specific details and a clear structure." The improved version was an inline edit of our own text rather than a new sample, and it kept our filler phrases and inserted a placeholder, "<specific functionality>", where a real detail should go. So the rewrite shows where your detail belongs, but you still have to supply it.

For a single typed answer, the two tools are close. Interviews by AI gave a fuller model answer to compare against. Mock Interview Pro gave a number and a single priority, but scored a deliberately vague answer generously. Can you practice speaking out loud for free on Interviews by AI or Mock Interview Pro?

Yes on Interviews by AI, no on Mock Interview Pro. This is Interviews by AI's clearest advantage for anyone who wants to speak their answers tonight without paying.

Interviews by AI reached a spoken question in about 30 seconds with no account, card or install. Each question has a Speak or Type toggle and a 2 minute timer by default (3 minutes is also free; 4 minutes is Pro). The limit is volume: 3 questions a month, and question 4 was blocked by a Google sign-in wall. Mock Interview Pro's free practice box on its interview question pages needs no signup, but it takes typed answers only. Its free interview plan goes further on research: it lists your target company's interview rounds and builds a practice plan after you give an email. It does not let you answer a question, though. Does either tool behave like a real interviewer?

Interviews by AI does not. It asked no follow-up question in our test, generated a fixed list and treated every answer as a separate exercise. It also chose its own questions, so a classic opener like "Tell me about yourself" only appears if the generator writes it.

Mock Interview Pro's paid interviewer is designed to ask follow-up questions on what you said, and the site says its video sessions add on-camera presence feedback. That is our product claim, not a test result: on these pages we report only what a free user can see, the same rule we apply to every tool we test. Where the difference would matter is clear, though. Rounds where the interviewer digs into your answer, such as a hiring manager or behavioral panel, reward practice that responds to what you actually said. A list of single questions trains recall of stories; it does not train staying composed when someone asks "and what would you do differently?".

How much do Interviews by AI and Mock Interview Pro cost over a week, a month and a whole search?

Interviews by AI is cheaper for any prep window up to about six months. Prices below were checked on September 18, 2026.

For one week of prep, Interviews by AI costs $0 if 3 questions are enough, or $9 for a month of Pro with unlimited questions, resume upload and 4 minute answers. Mock Interview Pro costs $0 for typed practice on public question pages, or $39 once for the 1-Month Pass, which includes 3 voice mock interviews but no video and no full company research report (the list of your company's interview rounds comes free, before you pay).

For one month of prep, the numbers do not change: $9 for Interviews by AI Pro against $39 for Mock Interview Pro's 1-Month Pass. If you want video practice, Mock Interview Pro's 1-Year Pass is $59 once and adds unlimited voice interviews, 3 video sessions and the company research report.

For a longer job search, compare Interviews by AI Pro with Mock Interview Pro's $59 1-Year Pass. Three months of Pro costs $27 and six months costs $54, so Interviews by AI stays cheaper. From the seventh month, Pro at $9 a month costs more than the $59 pass, and a full year of Pro costs $108.

The terms differ as much as the prices. Interviews by AI is a month to month subscription: you can cancel anytime and keep access to the end of the paid period, but the site publishes no refund policy. Mock Interview Pro's passes are single payments that never auto renew, with a 14 day refund by email.
